About me

I offer a safe counselling relationship that demystifies my clients’ emotional and psychological distress. I encourage a therapeutic engagement that enables clients to identify their difficulties and the inaccuracies in their negative appraisals. These unhealthy appraisals are generally the obstacles that prevent them from reaching goals. Clients and I work in mutual collaboration to develop sustainable and tangible responses to alleviate unnecessary distress. This approach is effective in supporting clients to break destructive patterns of behaviour and thus achieve their full potential.

I am an experienced and qualified counsellor and cognitive behavioural therapist with many years’ experience working in voluntary, educational, public and private sectors. These include The Priory, at both Brighton and Hove and Ticehurst, working with individual clients as well as facilitating CBT groups.

I provide consultancy to various Barnardo’s projects in Tunbridge Wells which includes working with young people and their carers covering issues of attachment and sexually harmful behaviours.

I worked in a local grammar school providing individual and group work over a period of five years whilst working with Fegans, a charity offering low-cost counselling to families, couples and individuals.

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a UKRC Registered Independent Practitioner. I am an approved Wellbeing and Associate counsellor for healthcare providers including BUPA, Cigna and Validium. Please enquire about this on initial contact if you require further information. My counselling work is clinically supervised to the required standards and I hold public liability and professional indemnity insurance.

“My therapy allowed me to think on a deeper level about why I have a problem and how it originally started which helped me to understand my illness more. I can honestly say, without my therapy, my life would be different and I can’t thank Sarah enough for how she has helped me through the dark stages in my life.” — Female, 16 years old
