People are not disturbed by things, but by the view they take of them

How I work
I aim to offer a counselling relationship that demystifies my clients' emotional and psychological distress. I encourage a therapeutic engagement that enables clients to identify their difficulties and the obstacles that prevent them from reaching goals. Clients and I work in mutual collaboration to develop sustainable and tangible responses that alleviate unnecessary distress. This approach is effective in supporting clients to achieve their potential.
I use an integrative model of counselling and work according to my clients’ needs drawing on a variety of therapeutic approaches such as Mindfulness, Compassion Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Attachment Theory.
The areas I cover include:
- addiction
- adoption
- anger
- anxiety, including OCD, GAD, panic attacks,
school phobia, social, health, etc - asylum issues
- attachment
- bereavement
- depression
- disability/chronic health
- divorce/separation
- domestic violence
- phobias
- post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- relationship and marriage difficulties
- self esteem
- self harm
- sexual abuse and survivor work
- sexual difficulties
- trauma and dissociation
The number of sessions required often depends on client difficulties and the longevity of them. I am able to provide short and long term work according to my clients’ requirements which will be discussed in the first session.
When clients have limited mobility I am happy to provide counselling in their own homes. I am also able to support clients with exposure work that may take place outside of the counselling room. This is sometimes necessary with school phobia, agoraphobia, etc. Telephone and Skype counselling are also an option.
Confidentiality
I adhere to the BACP ethical framework and my client work is totally confidential. I will only disclose content of sessions if I believe somebody is in danger. This will be explained fully in our first session.
